Colorado Mountain College Presidential Search

The publicly elected Colorado Mountain College Board of Trustees is conducting a search process for the next college president and chief executive officer.

Dr. Carrie Besnette Hauser, one of the most tenured higher education CEOs in Colorado and the longest serving president in Colorado Mountain College history, recently announced her decision to step down in August 2024 after nearly 11 years in the role.

Sole Finalist Selected

On April 15, 2024, the CMC Board of Trustees announced that Dr. Matt Gianneschi is the sole finalist for the position of college president and chief executive officer.

Reflecting CMC’s commitment to growing and developing leaders from within, the trustees, functioning as the presidential search committee, elected to conduct an internal search process to determine if any current employees were qualified for the position.

Trustees interviewed Dr. Gianneschi during a special trustee meeting on April 15 and subsequently announced their decision to move forward with him as the sole finalist.

The board will formally appoint Matt to the new role in a board meeting on April 29. Over the next several weeks, the board will solidify the details of the presidential transition.
